How everything happened...(by Angelo Canale - Rosy's Father)

I have seen the birth of the movement of women of San Luca at 16.45 on 25 January 2008. I knew of a previous meeting, in which Rosy had met some women in the country, and to which he had called together to form an operational group dedicated to carrying out projects she had in mind. He had just completed a major project of art for which he worked for 5 months, she was tired, a tired, though she would never admit it. Asked me if I would accompany her, so for the company, I think because he did not feel to drive alone.

In the car we spoke, did not know what kind of response would have, but that afternoon in the courtyard of the school appeared more than 400 women! We arrived a bit 'late, due to an interruption in the street. When we got there, I was confronted with an entire population. A river of people. The janitor, I think, the input of the school, kept saying that is "lady" had turned the country. In fact, no one could remember such a massive contribution to an "appointment" between women. We lost a little 'time to figure out how to organize. There was no chance of being able to settle anywhere, they were too. So in the end, Rosy went on a wall, and began to talk handsfree with the frankness that by now everyone knows in San Luca.

“is possible to pursue projects that will give the opportunity to create forms of employment. You know that with the kids in the school we made a major art project that has been so successful among boys. Some mothers have come to know me driven by curiosity, because these children speak at home in this work that you did in school. So I met some ladies that I have talked about how you live in San Luca. I know people of genuine talent, but unfortunately they are not able to comment. I thought for days, then I gained something can be done, and that this possibility can be built. This is a possibility, of opportunity. I believe that if we join together we can do well for everyone. I have no magic bullet, no magic nor miracles nor do I, but together they begin a journey, trying to improve our lives in small steps. You are many, it will take time, but if you believe all together, together we can build something.

I have three projects that I want to offer: the first is a toy library, a place to offer our kids the opportunity to develop skills. A center for dance, painting and decoration, embroidery, music. A center for socializing to meet and exchange ... The second is a family counseling center, a sort of counter to the family where you can have free advice from gynecologists, psychologists, dermatologists, urologists, especially an eye on elderly people with home visits and samples ... The third is the most ambitious is a dressmaking workshop. A small studio specializing in wedding dresses and evening gowns ... Whoever believes in this project can go to sign as a show of confidence ... "

Some women in charge, had arranged the sheets, where to put the signatures. But not enough. It was already dark and there were more women lined up waiting to sign. Rosy, I watched from afar, was pulled from all sides by the women who tried to speak, to ask, to know. In late evening we counted 398 signatures. Parts then a spontaneous applause from the women who had remained. But there were still my signature and that of my daughter Rosy. On his return he told me a curious anecdote. "You know Dad, a few years ago, got hot and ended malaluna thought of organizing a party in the local place in ... was nice but considered a bit 'loser. I was convinced and went on my way. The night of the party were all worried. At eleven, the space was still empty. I stood at the entrance. Past midnight, began to get so many people to organize the flow of entry had to climb the wall that runs along the freeway and yell at all the people who had to stand in line in pairs ... yet there are people that I meet and she says smiling, "you enter a couple pair ..." ... everybody remember it all. Was one of the most beautiful evenings of the movida Reggina in the last 30 years! That was an incredible summer. It all began on a wall. Like today in San Luca.”
